What is CAA: which was implemented by the Modi government?

what-is-caa-which-was-implemented-by-the-modi-government

What is CAA: 11 March 2024 Day Monday. This is no longer a common date in the history of India. This is a date that future generations will remember. The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) came into effect on Monday. The Home Ministry has notified the rules of CAA. When this bill was brought into Parliament, there were a lot of protests regarding it. Now let us tell you everything about CAA.

What is Citizenship Research Law?

On 11 December 2019, the Citizenship Amendment Act was passed by the Parliament. But could not be notified. In this, the Citizenship Act 1955 was amended, under which minority Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians who fled persecution from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan before December 2014 will be given Indian citizenship. Muslims have not been included in this law.

Citizenship will be given in 6 years:

These refugees will be given Indian citizenship within 6 years. Through the amendment, the residence requirement for the naturalization of these refugees was reduced from 11 years to five years. The biggest thing is that CAA… is not a law that takes away anyone’s citizenship… rather it is a law that gives citizenship.

When did the bill come for the first time?

Modi government first brought the Citizenship Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha in 2016. From there it passed. But it got stuck due to a lack of majority in Rajya Sabha. Then it was sent to the parliamentary committee. By then the 2019 Lok Sabha elections had arrived. Modi government returned to power with a stronger majority than before. It was again introduced in the Lok Sabha in December 2019. After being passed from there, it was also passed in Rajya Sabha. On January 10, 2020, the President also approved it. But after this, the country got caught in the Corona epidemic.

How to apply?

1. The government has prepared a portal to implement CAA.

2. The process of applying for citizenship and granting citizenship will be online.

3. Applicants will have to state the year when they entered India without documents.

4. According to sources, no documents will be asked from those who apply.

5. The Home Ministry will examine the application and issue citizenship.

Why the controversy over CAA?

Opposition parties and some Muslim organizations are against this law. They allege that the Muslim community is being targeted and this is also a violation of Article 14 of the Constitution and the right to equality. There is also a demand for citizenship for Muslims from three countries.

How did you get citizenship now?

The law says that if someone wants citizenship then it is necessary to live in India for at least 11 years. But in the new law, non-Muslims coming from three countries will be given citizenship within 6 years and not 11. Whereas people coming from other countries will have to complete 11 years of probation in India, no matter which religion or community they belong to.

What will happen after this law is implemented?

Modi government says that the purpose of this law is to remove legal obstacles related to rehabilitation and citizenship. To provide a dignified life to non-Muslims who have been facing religious persecution in Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh for decades.

The government said that citizenship rights will protect their linguistic, cultural, and social identity. Along with this, rights like business, economics, free movement, and buying property will be ensured.

Will anyone lose their citizenship?

According to the notification issued by the government, CAA is a law to grant citizenship. Due to this, no Indian citizen will lose his citizenship, irrespective of his religion. This is only for those people, they had to endure oppression for years and they have no other place in the world except India.

The government said the Constitution of India gives us the right to provide fundamental rights to religious refugees from a humanitarian point of view and such refugees can be given citizenship.

Mahashivratri 2024: Damru team will take out Pushpak Viman Yatra before the traditional Shiv procession in Bhopal

mahashivratri-2024-damru-team-will-take-out-pushpak-viman-yatra-before-the-traditional-shiv-procession-in-bhopal

Before Mahashivratri, there is a tussle between the Baba Bateshwar Kirtan Committee and the Shri Badwale Mahadev Temple Committee. The Damru team is going to take out Pushpak Viman Yatra before the traditional Shiv procession on 08 March. Traditionally part of the Shiva procession, this year the Damru team will organize a separate procession for the first time.

Members of Baba Shri Bateshwar Kirtan Samiti, also known as Damru Dal, announced that the Pushpak Viman, which had traveled from Bhopal to Ayodhya for the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla, will arrive on March 7. Before the Mahashivratri procession on March 8, the Pushpak Viman Yatra will traverse the same routes. It’s noteworthy that the members of Damru Dal were previously part of the Baba Bateshwar Temple Committee. After disagreements, they parted ways from the committee and will now lead the Pushpak Viman Yatra before the Mahashivratri procession.

This argument of the Damru team:

Arjun Soni, a member of Damru Dal, clarified that the Kirtan Committee operates independently from the Temple Committee. The temple committee has its program, while their team, comprising 111 members, will lead the procession in traditional attire. Regarding the selection of Mahashivratri for the event, Arjun Soni explained that the auspicious time falls on Mahashivratri itself.

The Temple committee says, we have two Damru teams:

In this regard, Sanjay Aggarwal, the convenor of the Shri Badwale Mahadev Temple Committee, mentions that there are already two Damru teams associated with the temple committee, which will take part in the Shiva procession on Mahashivratri day. The Shiva procession is organized by the Shri Badwale Mahadev Temple in the city, with the entire city, including the Chief Minister, participating. It’s worth noting that the Baba Shri Bateshwar Kirtan Committee, which is now organizing its procession before the main procession, was previously a part of the temple committee. Additionally, the temple committee recently requested the Damru team to attend a meeting with the police administration, but the team did not attend. The Damru team garnered attention for performing at the consecration ceremony of Lord Shri Ram Lalla in Ayodhya.
